Cyberspace is the Road less traveled

I have traveled the physical world to many intriguing places. I always hated flying, turbulence ,layovers, hotels, broken treadmills, bad sound, loud monitors,…

Cyberspace and becoming a world citizen via the internet has forever changed my direction, goals and and enthusiasm for making music with anyone worldwide with no cost other than a cable connection. Collaboration has become the next level of being a modern studio musician. I consult with many artists at this point of my daily experience as a working online musician suggesting woodwind instruments and colors of sound that I hear and then exchanging versions of my performances until the right combination of instruments and an arrangement is found.

I work with many traditional film composers who send PDF files of individual instrument parts which I play and create a flow of sending back quickly as more are sent. I have gained many skills from endless hours writing and producing jingles and from all my years of working in every great New York City recording studio as a player. I had the best engineers to work with and learn from.
Playing many doubles and always striving for excellence has been a satisfying passion. I love to play all day long still. I love making reeds ,I love the personal journey it takes me on daily. The computer has become a prime double and just as a skill on any instrument needs practice and constant maintenance so does your computer skills.

Practical hot key short cuts, use of plug/ins, proper formats of file sharing, upgrading software etc are as important as having a great reed. Having a fast turn around makes a client clearly see your commitment and professionalism.
Reed Works/ Bob Magnuson is a YouTube video podcast series that addresses many aspects of creating and succeeding at having a successful online recording business. I feel no competition as I have colored numerous ways to find and maintain clients, getting endorsements, contracting other online studio musicians, being a guest speaker at conventions sharing my experiences in this brave new world .I always enjoy answering any questions my viewers ask.
